How to Create a Niche Website

Many websites are built around a specific interest or idea, from crafty to health-conscious. But if you're not very good at coding or your knowledge of SEO is negligible, creating your own niche website can seem like an impossible task. Thankfully there are many ways in which you can create your own website and a lot of free resources available on the internet that will help you along the way! Here's how to create a niche website:

1) Do some research into what topics interest you. Consider whether this is something that other people would want to read about as well!

2) Build an honest and unbiased image of who you are as potential readers might expect.

3) Create a layout for your niche website with the help of an HTML or visual site editor. This can either be in-browser or through software such as Microsoft Frontpage.

4) Once you've created your layout and are happy with how it looks, add content to each page - but only when you're sure that there isn't any information available on the internet that offers a more detailed description of your subject!

5) Promote your website through social networking and bookmarking sites, guest blogs, link exchange programs, search engine optimization strategies, and advertising (where relevant). Remember to keep links live and check statistics often so you know what information is most popular with readers.

6) Use a blog as a means to keep readers up-to-date with articles relating to your subject, and include links back to the relevant pages of your website.

7) Consider adding blog statistics so that you can access information on how many people read the blog and how many people visit your website from it.

8) Consider using a newsletter or email list as a means of building up visitors to your website.

9) Spend some time on socializing with like-minded people. Chat with friends and family in your niche, join forums and chat rooms, find local groups that meet regularly, and visit local events - the more you talk to people in your niche the friendlier it will feel!

10) Find a way to make money through your website. You could use advertising or affiliate links to help you do this, or you might want to try selling physical items too.

It is common to have a website that interests a large number of potential customers, but not enough to build up a large enough readership to be profitable. The solution here is advertising and links from other websites or blogs, which brings in money from other websites or blogs, which brings in money from third parties, which helps offset operating costs for your website and allows you to create more content for your site.

There are many ways that you can do this:

1) Search engines. You can place your links on popular directories like Yahoo! or Open Directory, or you can go through a link exchange program with other websites, where they will place your link on their directory. Or you can join an article distribution program and have a specified number of sites link to you - which would bring in money from third parties. You could also advertise on the sidebar or footer of a site that has many readers.

2) Guest blogging and comment marketing. If you allow people to write guest blog posts for your website, then others will see your website in the source code and link to it from their own blogs. Or you can write guest blog posts for another website and this will bring in money from third parties as well.

3) Stick to your niche. Niche websites tend to get more links and readers because the audience is more concentrated. So if you're in a niche that's related to other popular topics, try linking to them or talking about them - not only will you attract more readers, but these websites and blogs might link back to you and bring in money from third parties too!

4) Give something away for free and ask people to link back when they do. Many people link to sites they like, so you should think about what you can give them in return and ask them to link back to you. They will want to be courteous and add a link to your site, but it's not too hard for them to do.

5) Link exchanges. Here you will find that a number of websites are interested in exchanging links with each other. If one website is interested in linking to another website, then chances are the other websites would be interested in linking up too. So by joining an exchange program, your website could get some more links from other websites and blogs, bringing money from third parties into the pot as well!
